First aid is responsible for the saving of more lives than almost any other area of medical care, and doing the right thing quickly can make all the difference to a sick individual. Not everyone is trained in first aid and a little help can do no harm, particularly when this help is an iPhone app called Assistance
that provides helpful information that can be used to access specific symptoms in a matter of seconds.
You select the problem, and the symptoms are displayed for you to assess. This is followed by the best procedure to resolve the problem. The procedures include well-designed images, which makes understanding the task at hand a lot easier and the answers are brief enough to grasp in the shortest period of time. It splits some answers into areas specific to children and pregnant women and care has been taken to clarify the safest possible procedure at all times. There is a section on diseases and the appropriate vaccinations, even a screen dedicated to H1N1 (Swine Flu) which looks at symptoms, prevention, treatment and high risk groups.
The final tab is called Emergency and is a potential life-saver. Consider First Responders out in the field, but not on duty, they would have the ability to use the built-in GPS antenna, which will then bring up the main emergency numbers for the county that they are in – a simple and thoughtful touch that brings with it loads of reassurance. Not every emergency is covered, but the most common are, and the way in which this app has been put together makes it an indispensable tool for anybody. With the detail level even showing techniques on how to remove victims from a car or from a life-threatening situation such as a burning building, it becomes hard to put a price on a solution such as this application.

Another app I would recommend is the first aid app from RediVideos. It has video instructions on how to perform CPR and other first aid procedures as well as other valuable medical information.
