I went the pharmacy the other day with my girl to pick up some medications and noticed a Pharmacist using her iPhone to answer questions for a customer. I then proceeded to ask the Pharmacist what application they were using on their iPhone. She said it was Lexi-Interact
for the iPhone and that she uses it everyday. I was thoroughly impressed with the fact she assisted three customers within a few minutes with her Lexi-Comp iPhone app (although she did mention that she has to keep a spare charger at her work).
Lexi-Comp has built a loyal following in the medical field serving the needs of advanced practice nurses, dentists, nurses, pharmacists and physicians with their wide variety of applications. These apps assist medical professionals on a daily basis by augmenting information and data directly in the medical professionals pocket. This allows them to serve the needs of the patients immediately.
You get started by tapping on the Interact button which will open Lexi-Interact allowing you to analyze a patient’s medication profile. Tap the Add Drug/Herb/Food button to add items to the profile. Use your keyboard to enter the first few letters of a drug/item name and as you type, the item list will narrow to aid in searching. Tap on the desired product to add it to your analysis. If you would like to remove an item, tap on the red Minus sign and confirm the deletion by tapping on the red Delete button. To clear all items and begin anew, tap Clear All in the upper left. After all items have been added to the interaction profile, tap the Analyze button to retrieve the list of potential interactions.

A complete list of interactions will be presented, each with a corresponding risk rating:
* A – No known interaction
* B – No action needed
* C – Monitor therapy
* D – Consider therapy modification
* X – Avoid combination
To learn more about a specific interaction, tap on the interaction combination. The interaction monograph will be presented. Tapping the Jump menu will open the Field List to allow easy navigation of the interaction monograph. Select the desired field and jump to it instantly. To return to your analysis results, tap the Interactions or Interact button.
