Marketcircle, makers of Daylite Touch for iPhone have recently launched a companion desktop application.  With the Daylight Productivity Suite for Mac, users can enter items into the desktop application such as contact information, business objectives, tasks and sales leads.  Any additions, modifications or deletions are instantly reflected when you sync the iPhone with the desktop.  This application is so useful it may become your favorite.  You will become addicted to Daylite Touch which brings with it the ability to virtually operate your entire business.

Daylite obtains most of its muscle by connecting to a server you run on a Mac and access over Wi-Fi or the Internet. Marketcircle states that the app is not designed for standalone use because at its core, it is a contact manager; a tool for customer relationship management (CRM).

Installing Daylite Productivity Suite takes a few seconds, but configuring the server that runs on your Mac is more time-consuming. You have to install Daylite Server 3.9, configure and set up the database for Touch access. Once installed, you connect to the server using a simple login screen. For Web access, you need a static IP address or, you can use a service such as No-IP.com. Once the data is added to the server or from the Touch app, everything syncs wonderfully. Just for fun, there is a clever ‘shake to sync’ option to force a manual sync.

Using Daylite Touch is pure joy. The home screen lists any new messages from your Daylite co-workers, plus any upcoming meetings and tasks. Buttons along the bottom of the screen let you access objectives, contacts, calendar, and tasks. In Daylite/CRM terminology, an objective is like a global project, something the whole team is working toward, while a task is more like an item on your personal to-do list.

The Daylite Productivity Suite runs $190 for a single user license.  By any measure, it’s a fantastic deal and a welcomed business collaborator.

Daylite Touch sounds like a great business tool. It also sounds like users may need an IT department to get this application up and running. There are a lot of steps in configuring the server that the average user would not understand however, once the initial setup is finished Daylite Touch should be a pretty solid business application.
