It’s not often I’m left speechless, but on this occasion, my mouth was gaping open. I was staring in disbelief at a …. cake.
You already know that the cake is an iPhone. But when Glenda, my girlfriend, told me she asked her friend bake a cake, I was a little confused. I was already struggling to lose some weight and my girlfriend had had a cake made for me? OK. It was sweet, pardon the lame attempt at a pun, but I wasn’t too anxious to have a big birthday cake sitting in my fridge when my birthday was in January.
We arrive at her friend’s home and found what looked like Willy Wonka’s apartment, that is if he had been real and lived in an apartment near Piedmont Road in Atlanta Georgia. Inside was quite literally a bakery with cake pans, pastry bags, spatulas, and chocolate batter everywhere.
Amongst all the clutter and confectioner’s sugar was a box that held this top secret cake that I was increasingly becoming curious about. Being truthful, I thought it might be a cake in the shape of an Apple logo (yeah, I’m a geek), but I wasn’t prepared for an actual iPhone.
The cake was incredibly detailed, down to the AT&T signal strength indicator and Bluetooth icon on the top right. She had created the volume controls on the side and even labeled each iPhone application that was on my home screen. It was amazing. I have never seen a cake so detailed right down to the texture on the iPhone dock.

Oh, and after a day of Glenda begging me, I caved and we ate it. Marble cake with Vanilla Buttercream. Delicious.
