Today comes word from Xconomy about a new company that has sprouted to fill the vacuum of consultancy firms with Apple expertise. Comprised of former Apple executives, Apperian helps companies leverage iPhone’s unique and powerful capabilities by developing enterprise focused applications.
If you have been a part of the Apple community for any amount of time, you are familiar with Apple’s weak presence in the enterprise market. It used to be, Apple products were the exclusive domain of creative marketing types. But that was years ago and with a market penetration nearing 10%, companies are increasingly leveraging Macs and iPhones. As the market expands for Apple products, so does the need for firms with the capability to develop and support applications meant for enterprise use.
Supported by Apple, although the extent of Apple’s involvement is unknown, Apperian’s value proposition is substantial considering that people with the skills and capabilities to develop serious business applications is certainly more limited than finding someone to write the latest tip calculator or restaurant finder. We are excited to hear about companies like Apperian. It means Apple’s ecosystem is expanding and iPhone’s viability in the enterprise will only increase with time.
